The Bad News

Why is there always bad news...  With a big group I think we aren't going to be able to do any deep story role playing, so I don't think Zombie apocolypse will work.  We need to do something else.  At least that is what I think.  Let me know if you think differently.  I think it needs to be something with lots of combat (since everyone is involved at once that way).  Or does it just not work at all? Or should we focus on a smaller group each week and few people sit out and play board games? Or are just a few people the main people who do a lot and the others become mostly extras?  Maybe instead of zombies we do something more arcane or techy, maybe something like John Carter of Mars, perhaps you all somehow get warped to Mars and get caught up in a war with lots of battles and magic like tech.  Any thoughts?  No matter what, the more I think about it the less I think the zombie thing will work with so many people.  Maybe we do meet on Tuesday with a smaller group? but who in it? Jeez. - I really don't want to try to do something that is heavy character story driven if we won't have a chance for people to play their characters.

  1. I know what you mean. I've been struggling with this wall dm-ing for the group for a long time now. It's really difficult to get every single person involved in the non combat sections own adventure but for the most part the people who are involved in non-combat are Kevin and Nate and Addison and Zack. The other people are typically involved more in the combat and kind of drift off during not combat times also keep in mind that Zack and Chad rarely show up and Ray never shows up. What we usually have is about 6 to 8 players and a DM.I'm going to think more about a great solution for you because I really did enjoy having you run the other night. It was a lot of fun and I really like your DM style

  2. I love this setting idea about gama world
the best way to run a game like GW is the way it was originally recommended to run its older brother "Metamorphosis: Alpha". Not just the PCs but the players themselves would have no idea this was a post-apocalypse world; they'd think it was merely a barbarian pseudo-D&D until they started running into... stuff. Stuff like the mysterious talking boxes, or small rooms with doors that close and open on totally different scenes, or "magically" animated suits of metal armor, or strange cursed stones that caused horrible burns.

    2. They recently (well a few years ago) made a Gamma world mix between an rpg and a board game that I heard was fun.
